What actually is Amāna?
A letter to your future self. You write it, seal it to a date you choose, and it comes back to you then, whether by email or, soon, by post, unopened until that day.
Can I read a letter before its date, if I really want to?
No. Once a letter is sealed, its content is locked at the database level, not just hidden in the app. There is no early-read option, for you or for us. That's the whole point of Amāna: a promise you can't quietly break.
Can I cancel a letter?
Yes, any time before it's delivered, from Settings. Cancelling deletes it completely, including any voice notes — there's no undo.
Can I change the date or the recipient email after sealing?
You can't do this yourself once it's sealed (that's intentional). If something's genuinely wrong, email support@amanaletters.com and we can help from our end.
What if I forget my password, or lose access to my email?
Use "Forgot password" on the sign-in screen if you still have access to your email. If you've lost access to the email your letters are tied to, contact support@amanaletters.com as early as possible.
How do voice notes work?
You can record as many as you like on a letter (email delivery only, for now), each with its own title. They're stored privately and only become listenable once the letter is delivered — and unlike a link that expires, they stay reachable in your Amāna dashboard for good.
Why can't I add a voice note to a posted letter?
Paper can't play audio. If you choose "by post," the voice-note option isn't offered for that letter.
How much does postal delivery cost, and when do I pay?
£5 per letter. You pay at the moment you seal it — the letter isn't actually sealed and confirmed until that payment goes through.
What happens if my payment fails?
The letter is never sealed, and nothing is charged. Just try sealing it again.
Do you read my letters?
No — and we technically can't, before your delivery date. The same encryption restriction that keeps you out until the date keeps us out too.
Is my data safe?
Yes. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail — short version: we collect the minimum needed to run the service, never sell your data, and don't run ad trackers.
Is Amāna free?
Writing and sealing a letter by email is completely free. Postal delivery has a small fee to cover printing and postage. We also don't clutter this with subscriptions — support is entirely optional, via the coffee link on your dashboard.
