Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of Amāna (amanaletters.com and the Amāna app). By creating an account, you agree to them. In plain terms: we hold your sealed letter privately until the date you chose, and we don't open it — not even us.

What Amāna is

Amāna lets you write a letter to your future self, seal it to a future date, and have it delivered back to you by email (or, where available, by post) on that date. The content of a sealed letter is technically inaccessible — including to our own staff — until the delivery date arrives. That is the core promise of the product, enforced at the database level, not just hidden in the interface.

Your account

You need an account (email and password) to write and receive letters. You're responsible for keeping your password secure and for the accuracy of the email address and, where relevant, postal address you give us — a letter can only return to where you told it to go. You must be able to lawfully hold an account in your country and, for account creation, be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age for online services where you live, if higher).

Sealed letters

Once you seal a letter, its content is locked until the delivery date you chose. You can cancel a still-sealed letter from your dashboard (this deletes it, including any voice notes, and cannot be undone), and you can edit the recipient email or delivery date for a sealed letter you haven't yet cancelled. We do not offer a way to read a sealed letter's content early — that restriction exists by design and applies to us too.

Delivery

We make a genuine effort to deliver every letter by email on its chosen date, and will do the same for postal delivery once that service is live. We aren't liable for a letter going astray because of an address you gave us that was wrong, out of date, or stopped working (a closed email account, for example) — do keep your email address current in Settings.

Letters sent by post may include one extra printed sheet of adverts from businesses and charities we work with, placed after your letter. It never changes or covers your letter, and advertisers never receive your details. Emailed letters don't include it.

Paid features

Some delivery methods (postal letters, and items from the Amāna store once available) involve a charge, shown to you before you pay. Prices are in GBP unless stated otherwise. See our Refund & Cancellation Policy for when a payment can be cancelled or refunded.

Acceptable use

Amāna is for personal letters to yourself. Please don't use it to send anything illegal, to harass or threaten someone, or to abuse the service (scripted mass sign-ups, attempting to access another user's letters, and so on). We can suspend or close an account that does this.

Changes

We may update these terms as the product changes — most notably as postal delivery and the store go live. We'll keep the "last updated" date current; continuing to use Amāna after a change means you accept the update.
